Back at the Southern Select & Royal Alpaca Challenge
for a 5th (and final) year!

We are once again bringing favourite mini fiber arts workshops to the show throughout the entire weekend, as well as a one hour SEMINAR on Saturday and a full length 3 hour CUT STRAND triloom weaving class on Sunday.

The short 45-60 minute (approximately) hands on workshops are easy to fit in between classes in the show ring. All tools and materials are provided (except for wheel spinning classes, read below).

All you need to do is get your name on the registration sheet at the booth and turn up at the time your workshop commences. On Thursday we will have sign up sheets for all workshops laid out on a table at the Moonwood Farm Fiber Studio booth during setup (starting around noon), just come and write your name on anything you'd like to do.

EVERYTHING is still completely FREE!

And as a bonus, Otto and Joanne Strauch from Strauch Fiber Equipment will be in the booth with us so that you get to meet the makers of what I consider to be hands down the best line of carders on the market for alpaca fiber. They *love* to talk 'machines', so feel free to stop by and pick their brains :) Joanne is also happy to show anyone who's curious about hand cards how to use them - a fantastic alternative if you can't afford a drum carder but need to get started on prepping your fiber for spinning or felting.

Note that the workshops usually fill rapidly, so get your name on the attendance sheets early!

Wheel spinners, check the requirements of the workshop you are interested in, some of them need you to bring things to the workshop - if so, they are clearly listed.

See you soon for the last alpaca show that Roo and the gang will be attending, it is time to retire from the road!

Proudly brought to you by:

Sunday 5 March
9:30am Triloom Weaving (CUT STRAND METHOD)
3 hour full length workshop (with Roo)

Suitable for beginners and those who have been using the continuous strand method.  Make a fabulous 2.5 foot shawlette while learning this triloom weaving technique.  The cut strand method is perfect for those highly textured novelty yarns, left over project remnants, even ribbons and lace!  The more variety, the more creative your finished item will be. There will be a limited number of looms available for participants to use in class, so be sure to sign up early.

If you have your own loom we encourage you to bring it.  Note that if your loom is bigger the project will take longer to complete (if it is larger than 2.5 feet, please bring a stand) - you are invited to stay once class is over to continue working on it, or you can finish it once you get home.

Practice yarns (acrylic) are provided, but if you have your own alpaca yarn and/or embellishings you'd prefer to use for your project you are very welcome to bring them. Be sure to prepare your yarns BEFORE COMING TO CLASS by winding them into center-pull balls. Rather than using one yarn, you are encouraged to use several in different colours, weights and textures.

**NOTE: due to the length of this workshop, you are welcome to step out if you need to attend to your animals being shown in halter classes.

11:00am Beginners crochet: A simple bracelet
Make a cute bracelet while learning to crochet (with Chris)
60 minutes
