The Strauch family of carders
USA made built to last brush attachment tools warranty

*~* Petite *~*
(used in my workshops)

The Petite is a manual drum carder with a polyurethane drive belt.

This carder is great for fiber artists with budget and/or space considerations who want a Strauch quality machine. As with all Strauch drum carders, the Petite comes with a brush attachment. Tools (batt picker, doffer brush, dabber brush), as well as a table clamp, are included with each carder.

The Petite is an excellent choice for a mid-sized carder with full sized features. The Petite is slightly smaller, with 6 3/4" wide drums instead of the 8 1/4" wide drums on the singlewide chain drives. The carder produces a batt approximately 6 1/2" wide x 22" long. The Petite also has a 4:1 drum ratio.

The frame is made from high durability MDF material. The Petite frame is 16" long, 10" wide and 7" high.

An important feature: The tall frame allows the handle to easily clear the table surface.

This unit is equipped with the #05 (128 psi) fine carding cloth on the large drum and our unique Slicker-Licker cloth on the small drum. Designed to handle ALL fibers including merino, llama, alpaca, cashmere, dog hair and other exotics.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I NO LONGER
SELL FIBER PROCESSING TOOLS,
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
THE WOOLERY!

*~* Finest *~*
(the top of the line chain-driven flagship model)

The Finest model is unique and comes complete with the brush attachment, clamps, and all accessories, including the knuckle-saving batt pick, doffer brush, dabbing brush and a super cute teasing tool which can also be used as a mini blending board.

Having a chain as the drive mechanism provides a constant positive non-slipping action while carding and is far superior to belt drives.

The Finest has a 5:1 drum ratio. You obtain more carding action per revolution, hence quickly producing a beautiful, well blended batt. One to two passes are usually sufficient for a nice spinnable batt.

An important feature: The tall frame allows the handle to swing free of the table surface.

Designed to handle ALL fibers, including merino, llama, alpaca, cashmere, cotton blend, dog hair, wool, bamboo, etc. A truly universal machine!

It is also available as a motorized model. If you choose the manual model, it can later be upgraded to a motorized carder.

*~* Mad Batt'r*~*
(the much coveted chain-driven art batt carder)

Customers requested a Strauch-quality carder that would produce wonderful, outrageous "art batts" full of exciting fibers and textures.

Strauch now offers the Strauch Model 302 series "Mad Batt'r" art drum carder as part of their regular product line. This carder has deeper pins (1/2" long) and coarser carding cloth (72 teeth per sq. in.) on the large drum to accommodate all the fun add-ins that make these art batts say "Spin me!"

Thick batts weighing more than 2 ounces can easily be made. The brush attachment makes it easier to control the type of art batt you are making.

Naturally, it also has the unique Slicker-Licker cloth on the small drum and a 4:1 turning ratio. Three tools (knuckle-saving batt pick, doffer brush, dabber brush), as well as a set of table clamps, are included with each carder.

*NEWS* As of Jan. 1, 2016, the Mad Batt'r will be built on a 6" tall solid ash-wood frame (just like the Finest series). It easily allows for future upgrading to the motorized version. An added benefit is that the handle swings free of the table.

*~* Awesome carder tools! *~*
(just like we used in class)

NOTE: If you are buying a carder from me, these three tools are already included in your purchase! This option is here for those who want to purchase only the tools, not a carder.

So you lost your tools, or maybe you were given a used carder that didn't have them, or you bought a non-Strauch carder that didn't come with tools and you REALLY like these. No need to worry, you can get them here so you can keep rolling like a pro.

knuckle-saving
batt pick

brush

This awesome heavy duty metal pick saves your knuckles from painful contact with the teeth of your drum carder while you are removing the batt from the carder.

It will not bend as does a knitting needle.

Used correctly, this tool also saves the drum and carding cloth from becoming damaged.

2" wide and 4 1/2" long, cloth has 1/2" teeth spaced at 72 dpi.

Used to clean the large (doffer) drum after you have removed the batt.

Use the center portion of the doffer brush to contact the curve of the large drum. Starting at the seam, swipe the Doffer brush down the drum in the same direction as the teeth on the drum. Continue across the width of the drum. Slowly rotate the drum backwards as you use the brush to clean the entire drum.

The brush is 4-3/4” long by 1-1/4” wide with four rows of soft, stiff bristles.

A high quality brush used to clean pieces of fiber and debris off of the small intake (licker-in) drum.

the Strauch teasing tool (included with purchase of the Finest)

The teasing tool is used to open locks and matted tips prior to carding. An included "C" clamp attaches the tool to a work surface freeing both hands to handle the fiber. Larger than a flicker, you can prepare fiber faster with the teasing tool. The wood base measure 6-1/2" long x 6" wide. The carding cloth (work space) measures 3" long x 5" wide.
